I own a workshop!

A year after moving in, my shed has evolved into a proper workshop, thanks to my parents. Here's how it went up over a week.

I moved into my current house around a year ago, and as I mentioned at the time, I was super excited by the prospect of owning a shed. Fast forward a year, and much like a Pokémon, the shed has evolved into a workshop, thanks to a very generous donation by my parents.

I plan on doing a full post about the workshop (including a video tour of my setup) in the near future, but for now, here are a series of photos taken at the end of each day over the course of a week, as the fine folks at Sheds R Us laid the groundwork and constructed it.

The overgrown back garden before work started, looking from under the pergola past the old shed and water butt to a weedy raised bed and the back fence The garden cleared at the end of the day, with the raised bed stripped to bare earth and piles of broken-up decking timber on it The garden cleared ready for the workshop's groundwork, with a fire basket on the bare earth The workshop site cleared to bare earth behind a new sleeper retaining wall, with a ginger and white cat wandering across Paving slabs laid on the raised sleeper base, with a wheelbarrow and cement mixer beyond The base fully paved, with a cement mixer and a wheelbarrow of sand on top Looking in through the workshop's open double doors as insulation goes in The workshop with its doors open and insulation boards inside, beside a water butt Inside the workshop, Celotex insulation boards going in between the wall studs Looking out through the workshop doorway past the insulated walls to the pergola and garden The workshop interior lined with OSB boards, with a row of windows along one side The finished workshop with its double doors open onto the empty OSB-lined interior The finished workshop, a timber building with a row of windows and double doors, on its paved base
