The Fruit of my Loom

My friend Emma has started weaving on the inkle loom I built her, and sent me photos of her progress over WhatsApp.

Following on from my post about the loom I build for my friend Emma, I have an update to share on her progress using it, delivered via the medium of WhatsApp images, and the comments she put next to them.

Missing photo: an adjustment peg fitted to the inkle loom “One adjustment peg installed and verified secure.”

Missing photo: heddle threads tied onto the inkle loom “Successfully made the heddle threads.”

Missing photo: a closer look at the heddle threads

Missing photo: the warp threads strung across the inkle loom in a simple colour pattern “Started with a straightforward warp colour pattern.”

Missing photo: the start of Emma's first woven band on the loom “And successfully started my first band weave. I need to figure out my working tension so the white thread sits cleanly.”

Missing photo: the woven band from another angle

Missing photo: the brown heddle threads on the loom, showing the limited clearance “My only issue is that its difficult to get enough clearance when you bring the lower threads up, so I probably need to make the heddle threads (brown ones) shorter. X”
